The Function of King County's Municipal Courts.If you have been pulled over and arrested for DUI by the local law enforcement (city police) of a city within King County, you will most likely be ordered to appear in that city's municipal court. King County's municipal courts are courts of limited jurisdiction. Drunk Driving is a gross misdemeanor. All municipal courts have authority to preside over DUI cases that occur within their limits.
In general, King County municipal court judges are authorized by Washington State statute to preside over criminal misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic infractions, and other civil violations that occur within the city limits of their jurisdiction. Most King County Municipal Courts are also authorized to issue civil orders for protection for victims of domestic violence.
King County's municipal courts function very similar to its District Courts. In DUI and other criminal proceedings, the municipal courts schedule arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencings, probation reviews, etc. King County municipal courts also provide related services including legal representation for indigent persons, probation supervision, and public defense screener services to name a few.

The City of Enumclaw has its own municipal court and also hosts Maple Valley court services. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Enumclaw City Hall.
Enumclaw Court is held at the Enumclaw City Hall on Tuesdays, with Maple Valley Court every second and fourth Wednesdays.
